Pattern shop
Single/loose patterns can be produced for prototypes or low volume production requirements or multiple impression pattern equipment can be manufactured for high volume requirements. They can be produced in wood or resin from conventional drawings or CAD data.
Pattern shop frequently asked questions
Common questions about our in-house pattern shop, supporting precision casting with accurate patterns and repeatable mould preparation.
-
Our dedicated in-house Pattern Shop is responsible for the design and manufacture of patterns used in the production of sand cast components. Maintaining this expertise internally allows us to exercise complete control over quality, accuracy, and delivery schedules. The result is enhanced repeatability, shorter lead times, and greater confidence that castings will meet specification and performance requirements from the first production run.
-
Our fully equipped Pattern Shop supports the manufacture of a wide range of precision sand castings, providing pattern equipment for both prototype development and full-scale production. Single and loose patterns can be produced for prototype and low-volume requirements, while multi-impression pattern equipment is available to support higher-volume production programmes.
Patterns can be manufactured from wood or resin using conventional engineering drawings or CAD data. In addition, we utilise advanced 3D printing technologies to produce pattern components that can be converted into sand casting pattern equipment, further reducing manufacturing lead times and accelerating project delivery.

Yes – Our pattern making engineers are fully skilled in modifying and repairing existing patterns.
-
Precision Sand casting patterns are a very specialised and are a critical element of the casting process. The quality of the pattern and design of its runner system has a direct impact on the accuracy, consistency, and overall quality of the finished casting.

We are able to support design changes and modifications, including those required at short notice. However, where time is critical, we would recommend a measured approach to ensure all changes are properly reviewed, documented, and controlled. This enables us to maintain full product traceability and compliance with our Quality Management System, while minimising the risk of unintended consequences.
